| PROJECT SUMMARY |
This project allowed at least 1,100 wholesale and retail nursery growers and affiliated agriculture producers, identified by the NC Assn. of Nurserymen, to select from four seminar topics designed to teach risk management mitigation based upon individual needs. The first goal was to develop and implement an education plan to present risk management training and enable informed decisions to the wide range of educational levels of nursery growers. This information was developed and made available to Extension Agents throughout NC and several educational sessions were held as well as several scheduled throughout 2006. The second goal was to prepare nursery growers to enhance their profitability through marketing and financial planning, product diversification and planning future production needs, family business transition, and human resource management. The Economic Tools to Insure Agribusiness Profitability brochure that was produced, printed, and used for seminar handouts, Extension education at the local level, further mail outs per request, and posting on the NCAN website has made significant "easy to understand and use" economic risk management tools available to our producers, allowing them to understand the risks involved in their business decisions.
