| PROJECT SUMMARY |
This unique project provides production, marketing and risk management education to farm families. By targeting farm youth and parents, the project reaches some farm decision-makers that may not participate in risk management training. The educational program is based on a 15-year farm simulation computer model. The hands-on format allows participants to compare financial progress, creating an enjoyable and competitive learning environment.
The audiences are agricultural education teachers in northwestern and southwestern Oklahoma and farm youth and their parents sponsored by Oklahoma and north Texas agribusinesses.
Two workshops will be conducted for 50 agricultural education instructors. Three workshops will be conducted for 45 farm youth with parents. The program will be implemented into five Ag classes and reach 120 students.
Participants will gain a better understanding of agricultural risk, how managing one type of risk impacts other risky decisions and how to better manage production, marketing and financial risk.
