| PROJECT SUMMARY |
| This project addresses Risk management of a human resources component, estate planning. Two Community-Based Organization (CBO’s), The Oklahoma Landowners and Tenants Association (TOLTA) and The Retired Educator for Agricultural Programs (REYAP) are requesting estate planning alternatives for socially disadvantaged farmers and youth. A local estate attorney wil meet with TOLTA, REAP, and Oklahoma State Extension Ag economists to develop educational material addressing wills, trust, and estate planning. The material will be tayored for this audience. The local attornay will present this information to local socially disadvantage farmers and youth. The audience for this project are 100 Black, White, American Indians, Hispanic, female farmers and youth who have not been introduced to estate planning alternatives. Two two hour workshops will be conducted by the local attorney and hosted by TOLTA and REAP. Fifty members of the TOLTA and REYAP organizations will attend each workshop. The workshops will be held at Muskogee and Lawton. A pre and post survey will be conducted at each workshop to show the increased knowledge and behavior change toward estate planning. Further more, the post-survey will confirm improvement in business strategic planning and interpersonal, family, and business relationships. The knowledge of estate planning will be increased among one hundred socailly disadvantage farmers in Oklahoma. Following each workshop residents will have an opportunity for further consultation addressing estate planning. |
