PROJECT SUMMARY
While content will be determined by producers’ needs at the time of each segment, at least 3 of the 5 areas of risk management education -- production, price, legal, financial and human -- will be addressed through the implementation of six, 90-120 second radio shows featuring various risk management “tools” or techniques.

A broad cross-section of people in Texas and peripheral states who are interested in agriculture will hear the RME spots, played as part of the 30 minute ag show on Texas State News Network. The target audience will self-select based on how that specific RME challenge relates to their own unique circumstances, and will include producers of many different commodities at various levels of management sophistication. A strength of this program will be the impact on producers who are not actively seeking RME, due to time, knowledge, location constraints, etc.

The audio spot, along with other educational materials/links, will be placed on a website that producers can visit to gain additional information – the real “meat” of the risk management education.

2628 producers hearing the spot initially will seek additional information from the website or their local Extension Agent, and 516 will actually report a change in their behavior in terms of seeking education or implementing risk management techniques.
