| PROJECT SUMMARY |
Budgets are the building blocks for the majority of planning and risk analysis for agricultural production systems. Agricultural business managers (including small, part-time and beginning producers), agricultural lending institutions, state and federal service providers, government taxing entities, agricultural support industries, educators, Extension specialists, and legal advisors are all interested in budget information (e.g. production costs, resource needs). Additionally, demands from these audiences for specialty enterprise budgets are increasing. However, much duplication of effort has existed between land-grant institutions in developing their respective specialty fruit and vegetable budgets and historically, standardized methodologies have not been utilized in developing the budgets. This project provides a regionalized solution to both of these critical issues in the midst of budgetary crises and reduced FTE´s at land-grant colleges and universities.
