PROJECT SUMMARY
Personnel management is critical to Texas Southern Plains agribusinesses. Agribusinesses are having problems with a number of personnel management issues: recruitment, retention, termination, legal considerations, communication and diverse employee cultural backgrounds. The project objective is to present a two-day conference to assist agribusinesses to become better equipped to deal with personnel issues that are faced daily.
While conference participation will be open to all businesses, managers and personnel directors of commercial farming and ranching operations, feedlots, dairies, and the cotton industry consisting of cotton gins, cotton warehouses, and textile manufacturers will be specifically targeted. Representatives of these segments will serve on an advisory committee to ensure all relevant personnel issues are addressed. The project will be evaluated by the number of participants registered and the knowledge gained from attending the conference. A six-month post-workshop survey is planned to determine the level of implementation of personnel techniques learned.
