| PROJECT SUMMARY |
The project utilizes the Beef Cow-calf Standardized Performance Analysis (SPA). SPA is a cow-calf production and financial performance analysis system. SPA facilitates the comparison of an operations performance between years, producers, production regions, and production systems
The project involves cow-calf operators completing the analysis twice. The first time will be in the spring, early summer of 2007. The results will be compared to a regional database in order to determine where the operation is vulnerable. Vulnerable is defined as being 1.5 standard deviations away from the mean of each performance measure. A report will be completed by the project director for each operation. With the assistance of the participant, short term goals will set to address and/or reduce the risk vulnerability. The manager will then implement their own strategies for alleviating the risk. Then, during the spring of 2008, the operation will complete the SPA analysis a second time in order to determine the impact of the project.
