| PROJECT SUMMARY |
This project was the second of four sustainable outlook projects designed to deliver up-to-date economic outlook information. Virginia Cooperative Extension will partner with extension educators from twelve land grant Universities, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Virginia, agricultural economists from Argentina and Canada, and other experts to engage producers, extension educators, and agricultural influencers in six comprehensive economic outlook seminars.
Changing biofuels demand factors, large speculative influences, changing farm policy landscape, and increasing input costs have extension educators and agricultural community influencers in Virginia and neighboring states looking for ways to increase rural-land viability. This project utilized the internet, video, and digital tools to leverage limited resources to engage participants in interactive settings to deliver timely and relevant risk management information. Information presented allowed participants to make sound price risk and marketing decisions. Surveys from the 06-07-08 projects show an increasing interest in this type of educational experience and that this type of outreach and extension program is becoming more effective regarding transformative learning for participants.
