PROJECT SUMMARY
Kentucky´s Annie’s Project is an extension risk management education program geared to the needs of our farmwomen. The primary objective is to empower them to manage critical decision-making processes and to build local networks throughout the state. During the six-week (18 hours) class, farmwomen receive hands-on training in five areas of risk management including production risk, market risk, financial risk, legal risk, and human resources risk. A statewide launch of Annie´s Project is planned for summer 2007, to reach 200 farmwomen who have a passion for business and involvement. The intent of Annie’s Project is for all participants to develop a greater understanding of their operations and to become a more active partner on their farm. We believe it is possible for all 200 farmwomen to meet this target goal. Kentucky´s Cooperative Extension Service will have better met the needs of this underserved client group and will adopt Annie´s Project as an on-going program after grant funds are exhausted.
