PROJECT SUMMARY
Farmers are asking extension professionals for help in evaluating new business ideas, conducting market research, and business planning. The extension professionals for the most part have been trained in production agriculture and lack the necessary business skills to assist these farm families. The objectives of this project are to provide agribusiness planning including risk management training and to make available the necessary resources to assist farm families in making sound business decisions.

At least four extension professionals will be nominated by each of their seven district directors to participate in the business planning training. The business planning training will be a nationally recognized business planning curriculum selected by the project advisory committee. Upon completing the business planning workshops the extension professionals will be able to facilitate a business training workshop in their district, and to assist farm families in developing new business ideas and marketing plans.
