| PROJECT SUMMARY |
Indicators are that this project should increase diversified Texas producer and rural agricultural business profitability by providing planning tools and skills to successfully manage financial, legal and human business risks. There were 131 participants that attended one of the five one-day Business Risk Management and Planning Workshops conducted during the traditional Extension educational program months of January and February. Of the 131 participants from central Texas counties, 105 demonstrated a good or excellent understanding of business risks management practices after the workshops, and 12 developed/revised business plans incorporating risk management strategies. In addition to workshop participants, through other venues, over twenty individuals received assistance with business planning, e-commerce, financing and other business risk management issues. Follow-up contact with participants encouraged them to meet post-workshop expectations, commit to developing/updating business plans and to pursue assistance in formulating business plans, thus benefitting from support provided by Extension Agents, Specialists and/or project collaborators.
