PROJECT SUMMARY
In the Southeast, crop farmers face significant risks in the current economic climate. Several years of adverse weather combined with low price have placed many farms in financial difficulty. The new Farm Bill made major changes in the peanut program effectively ending supply control and price support. The end of the tobacco program is in sight as well. These two crops have traditionally provide economic support to many farms. In the new environment, farmers must reduce exposure to production and price risk and maximize participation in the new Farm Bill. This project is designed to provide farmers with the tools they will need to accomplish that task.
