PROJECT SUMMARY
This project is directed toward Washington´s 29,000 agricultural producers. Given the increasing retail market concentration, the abundance of imported products and the departure of processors, our goal is to provide at least 100 farmers and ranchers with up-to-date information to take control of their marketing and become price-makers instead of price-takers. With substantive marketing information and case studies, we will provide an array of alternatives in terms of production and marketing opportunities. We will hold a minimum of three geographically dispersed Producer Marketing Workshops (PMW) to present agricultural producers with detailed information about various market channels so that they can make changes in their marketing plans. We expect 70 producers to develop written marketing plans. At the end of the 2004 season, 40 producers will report their improved level of sales and updated marketing plans.
