PROJECT SUMMARY
This project consisted of eight marketing seminars conducted across Idaho. The goal of this project was to reach approximately 200 producers (we had 243 attend) and will be building on the success of our previous seminars. The seminars did teach what causes the markets to move and yearly historical movements. The importance of understanding the principle of "basis" and how to work with the futures markets were also taught. An introduction to what types of grain offer a premium price and the importance of "identity preserved" production; testing and storage was stressed at the seminars.

Individual cost of production were introduced along with "yearly historical" trends of production costs (fuel, fertilizer, feed, etc). All this information was incorporated into individual marketing plans that were developed at the seminars. We will provide assistance, on an individual basis, in carrying these marketing plans after the seminars are finished.
