Summary
PROJECT SUMMARY
The California AgLink conference will be planned for January 2007 in the Sacramento area. This conference is a two-session conference (4 days total, a month apart) for farm and ranch families targeted to college students who may return to the family farm, and their parents. Families will generate a succession plan which includes business, retirement, and estate planning. Communication skills and decision making skills will also be taught. Intergenerational relationships will be improved to enhance the successful return of the agricultural student or other young farmers. Follow up technical assistance will be coordinated by FarmLink including subsidized referrals up to $500 towards professional fees. It is modeled after a successful program offered yearly by Iowa State University. John Baker (ISU) will assist us in planning. Chico, Fresno, Cal Poly and UC Davis families will be invited. Speakers will be from universities, non-profits and private sector.
