PROJECT SUMMARY
The project is for immigrant, non-refugee, new and beginning farmers to better educate them on issues of risk management. The CLF will focus on two training areas: crop insurance and financial management. Ten Latino farmers will be targeted of which 8 will participate. CLF will provide 2 training workshops of six hours each to cover the above areas. All workshops will be facilitated by CLF with technical support and expertise from consultants in the field. After completion of all training, each farmer will be given 4 hours of one-on-one assistance in their home about their specific needs. All training materials will be in Spanish and/or Spanish English. The results will be 8 farmers will acquire crop insurance by 10/31/2003 and begin adequate record keeping for their operation by 4/30/2004.
