PROJECT SUMMARY
This project will entail conducting a risk management seminar for fresh fruit producers in California. The seminar will focus on family business challenges and risks related to the transfer of ownership and management between generations. Effective management of these risks will be crucial to the survival of many firms. The League anticipates that 100 growers and shippers will attend the seminar. The League will conduct a detailed follow-up survey of all the seminar participants. The survey will be used to determine if, and how, they are using the tools discussed at the seminar to improve their risk management, and to identify any additional training or resources they may require. The desired result of the project is for 30 participants to formulate and implement effective risk management programs specific to the needs of their operations.
