PROJECT SUMMARY
This project’s first objective was to increase the understanding and application of livestock risk protection (LRP) by producers and agribusiness professionals in Colorado. A key component in the implementation of LRP contracts is in understanding how market basis affects the final result. Basis information was gathered and made available for use in managing LRP contracts. A livestock marketing simulation tool was developed to help producers and agribusiness professionals better understand techniques for implementing LRP contracts.

The second objective was to conduct educational programs targeting three important audiences; agricultural lenders, crop insurance agents and livestock producers. The project team annually conducts six ag lender meetings where this material was distributed. Five agent and producer meetings were conducted throughout Colorado utilizing established commodity partnership linkages.
